Trends in writing for teens
The trend of publishing magazines for teenagers and young adults is certainly not unique. However publishing magazines, which feature teenagers and young adults as the primary contributors, with content geared specifically around their interests and well-being, is. Positive Teens is proud to be a magazine like the latter.
Positive Teens’ publisher/editor-in-chief, Susan Manning, has a theory of why this trend has involved. Manning says, “Writers and publishers are realizing the importance of keeping it real. Magazines should be mindful of diversity because that’s the reality of today’s youth.”
To learn more about what Manning and other publishers and editors have to say on the subject read “Never Too Old to Learn, Writing about school for Students & Teachers.” The article can be found in the February 2005 issue of Children’s Writer, Newsletter of Writing and Publishing Trends.
