In Memory ...of those we have lost

My Testimony

I was thirteen years old
When I met a friend.
I didn't know our meeting
Would deliver me from sin.
We went to the movies
To see a show
We planned to go again,
But the next week
He didn't go.
His sister was crying
When she said he was dead.
I hung up the phone in utter dread.
Soon after,
I was invited to church
By a friend
And that night
I let Jesus in.
As people were praying
I was filled with sorrow.
I began to wonder about my tomorrow.
Would I go to
Heaven If I were to die?
And suddenly
A tear fell from my eye.
The pastor invited up those
Who wanted to repent
For a prayer of deliverance,
And so I went.
When I knelt at that altar
I whispered a silent prayer.
I don't remember what I said,
But I felt that God was near.
Although many years have gone by
I'll always remember
That I found life
After someone I loved had to die.
